What's New!
The new Total Focused Golf web site includes a number of new features:
At Total Focused Golf, we build better golfers and better people. We do
that in a unique, thoughtful and caring way that transforms how each individual
performs on the course, in the classroom, at work, and at home. This
transformation is difficult to describe. It has to be experienced to be
felt and understood. So, perhaps the best way to illustrate how our
approach works, is to tell the story of one of our golfers - we'll call him
Dallas.
When Dallas came to us, it had been a tough year. Two shoulder injuries and a significant drop off in tournament performance had left him angry, frustrated and wondering whether all of the effort was really worth it. After all, he did all of the "right" things to be a successful golfer. He put lots of time in on the practice tee, worked regularly with a top notch swing coach, had professionally fitted, high-end equipment and exercised daily using a golf-specific fitness program. But, even though Dallas kept putting in the time and effort, things were going down-hill fast. And, as a result, playing golf wasn't fun anymore - it was drudgery.
Dallas knew that some work on the "mental side" of golf was necessary. It was obvious that he spent way too much time thinking over the ball before every shot, was too easily disturbed and distracted by outside forces and was so tense in pressure situations that it was surprising that there weren't permanent finger indentations on the grips. But he hadn't realized that all of the negatives that he was carrying around - like fear of failure and over responsibility - along with the anger and frustration, were creating emotional barriers that made playing good golf impossible.
So, as a first step, we helped Dallas shed a big part of the emotional baggage. The change was immediate. Not only did he begin to enjoy practicing again, friends and colleagues noticed that he now smiled a lot more and was more fun to be with and work with. Dallas noticed that practice time, lesson time and even time spent at work was more productive - and less stressful!
But that was just the beginning. Next, we helped Dallas get rid of some residual negatives. Then we began teaching him new mental skills (the ability to play golf more creatively using the mental state commonly called "The Zone") that would help him relax and focus more effectively on the course (including CD-based "homework"). For Dallas, things only got better. Suddenly, after just two short months, (and using the CD's on a daily basis), he was 30 yards longer off the tee, didn't linger over the ball before every shot, was relaxed and calm before, during and after tournament play and was unaffected by disturbances and disruptions from outside sources. More importantly, he was having fun again playing golf - and living life.
Dallas is now confident and happy and looks forward to every tournament as an opportunity to succeed and have fun. He knows however, that mental skills, like physical skills, require practice and repetition. Therefore, he continues to work with Total Focused Golf to further hone those skills (as well as to ensure that no new emotional barriers "pop up") - skills that will help him find success in golf and in life.
If you're COMMITTED to playing better and being better, take a tip from Dallas. Total Focused Golf can help you play better and live better, right now. I know, I'm Dallas.
